چکیده

The main contribution of this thesis is to propose a Framework to generate RhythmicallyControlled Multi-Mode Audio-Based Interactive Systems used create variable-form improvised pieces in real musical performance contexts. In the recent years the field of Interactive Music System has grown considerably but issues related to Rhythm has been underestimated in my point of view. I analyze other related approach and compare them to mine. After that, I develop a profound analysis with respect to Rhythm considering different perspectives. In the core of my work, I develop the concepts of mode and metamode of interaction and formalize them using the Theory of Synchronized Automata empowered by Tree Structures. Based on this formalization, I develop computational tools to deal with real life situations. Finally, I describe and analyze two case studies based on their computational structure and practical musical results.

A System for Computer Music Generation by Learning and Improvisation in a Particular Style

The paper deals with question of music modeling and generation, capturing the idiomatic style of a composer or a genre, in an attempt to provide the computer with “creative”, human-like capabilities. The system described in the paper performs analyses of musical sequences and computes a model according to which new interpretations / improvisations close to the original's style can be generated....

Learning Musical Creativity via Stochastic Transduction Grammars: Combination, Exploration and Transformation

We discuss how Boden’s creative processes of combination, exploration, and transformation naturally emerge in models that learn musical improvisation via stochastic transduction grammar induction. Unlike a conventional monolingual grammar, a transduction grammar represents complex transformative relationships between one representation language and another. For musical improvisation, a transduc...
